New area dedicated to cannabis production – show to focus on availability, quality and resource efficiency of tomorrow's foodstuffs.

VertiFarm is to be held for the third time at Messe Dortmund between 8 and 10 October 2024. The international meeting place for vertical farming and new food systems will be offering valuable ideas and solutions for overcoming the global food crisis by means of technological innovation, and will provide a far-reaching overview of leading-edge cultivation systems.

Safeguarding food supplies and achieving sustainable transformation of global food and agricultural systems yielding fresh, year-round alternative foodstuffs is one of the most urgent tasks in the 21st century.  The potential for high-yield, predictable productivity offered by vertical farming, new food systems and controlled environment agriculture (CEA) will be presented in a comprehensive line-up at VertiFarm between 8 and 10 October 2024. The methods aimed at meeting the future food needs of the world's population by means of sustainable food systems in controlled environments will take centre stage at the three-day exhibition featuring market leaders, trendsetters and pioneers in the industry.

Major exhibition on future farming and cultivation Visitors to the show will obtain a detailed overview of controlled production systems for vegetables, fruit, salads, herbs and microgreens, as well as fish, insect farming and the cultivation of medicinal plants. VertiFarm is positioning itself once again as a key international forum for the global challenges such as crop failure due to drought and severe weather phenomena, food supplements, security of supply, energy efficiency and urban sustainability.

Focus topic: cannabis production
The cannabis market is booming across the world. More and more countries have already legalised cannabis or are moving towards legalisation. However, beyond its intoxicating effect, hemp can be used in many health-promoting, nutritious, sustainable and useful products. In addition to food, medical and cosmetic products, cannabis can also be used to build houses or manufacture clothing, textiles, paper and batteries. Hemp production is therefore currently picking up speed, particularly in Europe, and is discovering for itself he latest developments and trends as well as the numerous benefits of vertical farming.

Messe Dortmund is once again putting on a wide-ranging supporting programme at VertiFarm 2024.
