A closer look at 16 new potted plants

The 2020 California Spring Trials take place in late March, but it's not too early to learn more about some of the new products that will be on display, including new potted plants.

Gerbera Glorious Series (HilverdaFlorist)
Patio Gerbera Glorious is a brand-new series with stunning double flowers up to 6 inches. The stylish and voluminous plants stand out in the crowd and on a terrace or patio. This new series consists of four strong colors: Purple, Yellow, Orange, and White. With its show-stopping flowers, Glorious Gerberas should be a true retail favorite.

Pucker up for the new Soiree Kawaii color, Blueberry Kiss. Denim-blue flowers with dark-purple eyes offer a great new hue for summer landscapes and combination plantings. Proven in landscape trials, Soiree Kawaii goes the distance all summer.

Pericallis 'Senetti Violet' (Suntory Flowers)
Vibrant new color joins the Senetti line, 'Senetti Violet' has deep, violet-blue flowers with white radiating from the center eye for dramatic effect. Plants are more compact than top selling Senetti varieties, Magenta Bicolor and Blue Bicolor.

A new color addition to the Two in One interspecific series of Pelargonium, Violet offers strong landscape performance, drought tolerance, and self-cleaning blooms.

Kalanchoe Tiger series (Beekenkamp Plants
This Tiger Kalanchoë series consists of nine varieties that are characterized by contrasting flowers with beautiful drawings, the typical dark eyes in the flowers. The powerful look of the plants fit the strong appearance of the tiger, to which it owes its name. Available next season.


Gerbera 'Majorette Pink Halo' (Sakata Ornamentals)
The industry's most uniform gerbera keeps getting better. Two improved colors continue to bring the highest number of flowers at first flower. 'Improved Pink Halo' and 'Yellow Dark Eye' elevate the uniformity of this seven-color series.


Gerbera Garvinea Cheeky Series (HilverdaFlorist)
The Garvinea Cheeky series is a complete new garden gerbera assortment. The small-flowered series consists of four strong colors: Magenta, Orange, Red, and Yellow. The strong Garvinea genetics is the basis of this uniform plant. The Cheeky Series has true flower power and creates up to 60% more flowers than the large-flowered Garvinea.


Dahlia LaBella Gigante Pink bicolor (Beekenkamp Plants
The LaBella is stepping up. For 2021, 'LaBella Gigante Pink Bicolor' is the new intro. This extra-large flowered Dahlia suits bigger pot sizes. It branches very fast and can easily be used in landscapes. Its giant pink, bicolored flower attracts the human eye as well as butterflies and the bees in every garden and patio.


Dahlia 'Electro Pink' (PlantHaven)
'Electro' Pink is the world's first dark-leafed, cactus-flowered dahlia. It has an elegant, medium cactus flower form, hot cerise-pink in color. Blooms are 4 inches in diameter, perfectly in proportion to the plant.


Cyclamen 'Super Serie Djix' (Schoneveld Breeding)
Cyclamen Super Serie Djix is a seed-propagated mini Cyclamen persicum of the Carino type. This addition to the Super Series range is characterized by its special flower shape, which is unique for mini Cyclamen. Djix is a typical autumn cyclamen and blooms from September to November. This flowering period is based on Northern European conditions. In North America, on the other hand, Djix is positioned as a product for Christmas and Valentine's Day. Djix is suitable for pot sizes of 3˝ inches up to 5 inches, depending on the climate. Two colors are available — Red and Wine Red.

Cyclamen Metalis (Morel Diffusion)
This new midi range of cyclamen features silvery foliage. Plants have exceptional evenness with round and vigorous growth, generous silverleaf, and distinctive contrasting. Available in an assortment of six colors and a mix.


Coleus 'Monkey Puzzle' (Terra Nova Nurseries)
'Monkey Puzzle' forms a dynamic, self-branching mound, and is covered in peach and purple toned, lace-like leaves. The rounded, spreading habit is perfect for containers, hanging baskets, mid-height summer borders, and mass plantings.
