Chocolate museum grows cacao beans in greenhouse

SEOUL-A popular museum on Jeju Island has succeeded in growing cacao beans, a tropical crop used to make chocolate. A cacao tree growing inside a greenhouse at the Jeju Chocolate Museum produced the island's first beans early this month.

The museum explained that cacao beans turn red or yellow as they ripen, taking about four or five months to grow, and another month to fully ripen.

The Agricultural Research Center for Climate Change also succeeded in growing cacao beans last August.
