Trends shaping the future of the horti supply chain
Added on 16 November 2022
During a session at Greenhouse Grower’s GROW Executive Summit, which takes placed Nov. 30-Dec. 2 in Ft. McDowell, AZ, Ryan Douglas of Ryan Douglas Cultivation will break down the developments happening beyond the greenhouse market that you can put to work at your operation to gain efficiencies in your own supply chain.
Douglas has worked in commercial horticulture for 25 years and currently specializes in licensed cannabis start-ups. Before entering the cannabis industry, Ryan spent 15 years as a commercial greenhouse grower of ornamental and edible crops, growing up to 600,000 plants annually.
“Controlled-environment agriculture is just as susceptible to supply chain disruptions as any other industry,” Douglas says. “Recent events have demonstrated that anything from COVID-19 lockdowns to container ships stuck in the Panama Canal can mean severe ramifications here at home. Staying up to date — or better yet, ahead — of supply chain trends can help growers navigate supply challenges and ensure the future viability of their business.”
