The scheme is designed to support the adoption of advanced equipment that can lead to significant energy savings. This includes the installation of LED lighting systems, which are known for their lower energy consumption compared to traditional lighting methods. By switching to these modern technologies, growers can not only cut down on their energy bills but also contribute to environmental sustainability.
Applications for the grant are open to a wide range of horticultural businesses across England and the funding is a part of the wider Farming Investment Fund, which encompasses various programmes aimed at enhancing productivity and sustainability in farming. The government's focus through this fund is to support the agricultural sector in becoming more efficient, innovative, and environmentally friendly.
