How you can plan to attend GreenTech 2021

Last year's GreenTech event took place in a completely virtual format. This year, GreenTech Live and Online is being presented in a hybrid format, taking place in person and online Sept. 28-30. The complete schedule for the event, including registration information, is available here.

On September 14, the Dutch government announced a relaxation of COVID-19 measures in the Netherlands, including the elimination of social distancing measures. As of Wednesday, September 22, fully vaccinated travelers coming out of very high-risk areas are exempt from the mandatory quarantine.

Mariska Dreschler, Event Director for GreenTech, says after a year of isolation, there's excitement brewing for the event.

"We've had a strong community for years, and were set for a strong year last year. When COVID-19 hit, we postponed a couple times but wanted to stay in contact in an interactive way," Dreschler says. "We had a good online platform that kept the exchange of knowledge alive, and we're hoping to do the same this year with a hybrid event.

This year's event features two levels of knowledge sharing. The Xpert stage is designed for head growers and others involved in day-to-day plant production, while the Vision stage is aimed at owners and CEOs and will focus on long-term trends, challenges, and opportunities.

Over the past year, Dreschler says the industry has transformed itself to keep up with demand, which has fostered a spirit of optimism.

"This year's theme of 'Happy food, healthy flowers' reflects that," Dreschler says. "We've built a strong community for our market, and now we can take this community and share what we are doing with others."

Recent updates for the event include:

  • "Market insights, challenges and opportunities: Hydroponics"
  • "Is the EU's GreenDeal a key trigger point to shift Vertical Farming into mass production in Europe?"
  • "Food safety and food security is a profitable business model"
  • "The rising importance of sustainability in the ornamental industry"
  • "Co-creation leads to bigger steps in the field of automation and digitalization"
