Keeping tabs on diseases in hydroponic leafy greens

Hydroponic leafy greens and herbs can be susceptible to several diseases that reduce plant quality and marketability. A recent e-Gro Alert highlights five of the most common diseases. None of the available treatments are curative, so apply treatments preventively.

The alert specifically focuses on pythium root rot, powdery mildew, botrytis blight, basil downy mildew, and sclerotinia blight. It is always important to consult with a diagnostic laboratory to positively identify diseases; doing so can save you much guesswork in terms of prevention and control.

Learn about commonly affected crops, signs and symptoms, sanitation and cultural control measures, preventive fungicides, and more here.
