New tool makes career in horti easy

One of the best ways for horticulture students to get professional work experience is through internships. The opportunities often can be hard to find though. To help remedy that, Seed Your Future has announced the launch of its new free online Horticulture Careers Internship Search Tool to help students find internships within the hort profession. This is the latest resource from the coalition comprising more than 200 allied partners united in a mission to promote horticulture and careers working with plants.

Finding enough qualified candidates for open positions is the No. 1 issue of concern for employers across the horticulture and "green-collar" industry, according to research conducted by Seed Your Future.

The new online tool includes internships across the art, science, technology, and business of plant careers; and features three ways for site visitors to search for their future internship by job category, by employer, and by state.

"Students need to know what is available for internships, this new website shows the breadth of choices in horticulture," said Mary Hockenberry Meyer, University of Minnesota. "I cannot imagine a student who would not be impressed with all the choices."
