Perennial launches virtual garden compatition

UK- Horticultural charity Perennial has launched a fundraising appeal to raise money for the people in horticulture who are encountering financial difficulties during this tricky time. The appeal kicks off with a virtual garden competition that is open to everyone across the UK.

Have you been putting more effort into prettifying your garden lately? Or perhaps you've always been proud of your rolling lawn or shiny patio? Either way, now's the time to show it off, as Perennial has announced the launch of a virtual garden competition to begin an emergency fundraising appeal.

What does the competition involve?

People across the UK with gardens of all shapes and sizes are encouraged to enter the HortAid-20 Gardening Competition, which will be judged by Perennial President Alan Titchmarsh and an expert panel of judges.

Entry to the competition costs just Ł5 and there are some excellent prizes to be won, including the chance to meet one of the celebrity judges and a gardening hamper for the overall winner. Rachel de Thame, Ann-Marie Powell, James Wong, Jim Buttress, Jo Whiley, Lee Connelly (The Skinny Jeans Gardener), Lesley Watson and Michael Perry will all sit on the judging panel alongside Alan Titchmarsh.

When you feel the time is ripe, simply email photographs of your garden or plants for assessment by the judges. The deadline for photo submissions is 15 August. Find out more about the competition at perennial.org.uk.
