During the visit, the Embassy of Uzbekistan in the Netherlands (with a residence in Brussels) organized a presentation of the potential of Uzbekistan in the field of agriculture. The event was held at the international press center of the Netherlands - Newsport in the Hague.
The event was attended by representatives of more than 40 leading agricultural companies in the Netherlands, working in the areas of production of greenhouse complexes, horticulture and crop production, production, processing, packaging and transportation of agricultural products, irrigation technologies, as well as representatives of the diplomatic corps, several international organizations and the media.
The Ambassador of Uzbekistan Dilyor Khakimov presented to the participants information on the reforms carried out in the country, as well as the most important political and economic events in the life of Uzbekistan. In particular, the audience was informed about the results of the parliamentary elections held in Uzbekistan in December last year, as well as the processes related to these events in the formation of a new parliament and government.
Camilla Irgasheva, a leading specialist in the Department of Agriculture Innovation and Digitalization of Agriculture, made a presentation on agricultural reforms, measures to support agricultural producers, export promotion, privileges granted to foreign investors, and the development of the greenhouse sector.
The event was also attended by leaders and representatives of more than 15 Dutch companies that are already collaborating or are considering entering the market of Uzbekistan. As noted, the reforms launched in Uzbekistan three years ago are yielding positive results. In particular, the country is actively attracting modern technology and knowledge, developing the necessary infrastructure, creating more comfortable conditions for doing business. A distinctive feature, however, is that the changes cover not only the capital of the country, but also regions where there are also huge business opportunities.
The event also included substantive negotiations with Dutch partners on the implementation of projects in the field of agriculture.
As a result, agreements were reached on the development of agricultural projects in Uzbekistan, as well as the participation of companies from the Netherlands in the trade and economic mission of this country to Uzbekistan in March 2020 with a visit to Samarkand region and participation in the exhibition "AgroWorld Uzbekistan - 2020".
