Office-to-farm conversions not only provide a new purpose for empty buildings, but they also address another challenge that came to light during the Covid-19 pandemic.

A new purpose for empty office buildings is emerging: indoor farms.

Office-to-farm conversions have taken hold in recent months, according to a BBC report. One floor of a 32-story historic Niels Esperson building in Houston, Texas, is undergoing a conversion to a farm. Another project is transforming a 200,000 sf facility inside a former commercial building in Florence, Ky., into a vertical farm.
