Solving global challenges together

The UAE is the largest export destination for Dutch goods in the Gulf region and the partnership between the Dutch government and the UAE is already strong. During this trade mission, in which Royal Highnesses King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima played an important role, the Dutch government took an extra step in positioning Dutch companies and knowledge in the country. "The UAE are exposed to scarcity of the exploitation of natural resources, rapid population growth, and high energy demand. The continuing temperature rise contributes to UAE's water scarcity, drought and aridity", explains Schwarzkachel. Due to these conditions, year-round agriculture is a real challenge. Together we aim to solve these global challenges.
How Pure Harvest is growing fresh produce year-round
Their Majesties King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima visited the Certhon SuprimAir greenhouse of Pure Harvest in Nahel, Abu Dhabi. This ingenious interplay of greenhouse, ventilation, cooling, irrigation and automated control was built in 2018 to create an ideal indoor climate for producing fresh, healthy fruits and vegetables year-round. That's why Pure Harvest is able to produce high quality fruits and vegetables every day of the year, despite the extreme desert-climate.
Let's solve the global challenge together
"By sharing our knowledge about indoor farming and sustainable growing, we have shown to be a key player for solving the challenges the world faces today. During this trade mission we were able to strengthen our longstanding trade relationship with the UAE. And that is one of the most important things when we aim to solve the global challenges, together", says Schwarzkachel.
