South Korea to introduce smart farming technology to Jordan

In light of increasing demands for digital transformation amid the pandemic crisis, the event aims to introduce the use of smart farming technologies to Jordan's agricultural sector to improve agricultural productivity as food security becomes more vital to the Jordanian economy. Needs to overcome poor agricultural conditions have risen in light of unprecedented water supply shortage issues affecting the Kingdom, said a statement from KOTRA Amman.
The concept of smart farming centres on the application of Information Technology, Artificial Intelligence as well as cutting-edge innovations, such as big data, will be introduced to provide optimised cultivating environments for various crops that can lead to an improvement in production quality and more efficient management of resources, the statement said.
The event's programme will feature speakers from Jordan and South Korea covering various topics such as the role of the public sector in Jordan in supporting small holders facing the impact of COVID-19 through the use of innovation and technology in agriculture, greenhouse and environment control and cultivation systems, Vertical Smart Farm System (Hydroponic Cultivation) and ICT Soil Controllable Modular Multi-stage Cultivation Integrated Solutions in addition to many more topics and case studies where smart farming technology is applied in Jordan and South Korea, concluded the statement.
