These water-saving robots are growing produce in greenhouses

The robots are called Grover and Ada. Developed by a Silicon Valley startup called Iron Ox, these farming robots we introduce to you today are integrated with a hydroponic system that allows plants to grow in a water-based solution. The system reportedly uses 90% less water than traditional farms and 90% less electricity than vertical farms through the incorporation of LED lights.

The robots are called Grover and Ada and they are making the most of water and electricity. In essence, these robots are growing more crops with less waste, with each of them collaborating to complete a full evaluation process.

The robots are integrated with a hydroponic system. That's when plants are grown without soil in a water-based, nutrient-rich solution. The facility currently grows basil and strawberries, but there will be more types of crops to produce when large-scale farms are finally in the works.

Have we piqued your curiosity yet? Wondering what kind of engineering and technology goes into producing such robots? Curious about what the robots look like in action? In this video, we bring you answers to all these questions and more.
