Vegetable farming in Switzerland has witnessed significant expansion, with organic cultivation leading the way. According to the latest data from the Federal Statistical Office (FSO), the area dedicated to organic vegetable farming has surged from just over 500 hectares in 1996 to 3,160 hectares in 2023—an impressive six-fold increase.

This means that today, a quarter of Switzerland’s total vegetable-growing land is farmed organically, marking a significant shift toward sustainable agriculture.
