'22 Autumn Fair: hotter than ever!

Hazerswoude/Boskoop- On 24 and 25 August GROEN-Direkt opened the doors to its Autumn Fair - the season's number-one trade fare where garden plant buyers from within and outside the Netherlands meet one another every year. More than 5,000 sample batches from at least 500 growers, dozens of concepts, novelties and the start of the exclusive presale of Christmas trees made this edition of the fair the greenest ever, while the tropical temperatures also literally made it hotter than ever!

At the same time, just over two hundred standholders presented their ware in the adjacent halls hosting the first edition of the new PLANTARIUM | GROEN-Direkt fair.

GROEN-Direkt looks back on this new setup with great satisfaction. The fair's atmosphere was very pleasant and the professional visitors were of good quality. Many visitors from different countries, including the Netherlands, Belgium, UK and Italy, found their way to the largest green market in Europe, attracted by the unique range. Together they created a great ambiance, making for two highly successful, lively fair days.

Hotter than ever

This year, the Autumn Fair visitors could admire the largest range of green products ever. The more than 5,000 sample batches from at least 500 growers, the concepts, dozens of novelties and the latest trends provided a wealth of inspiration. The visitors were thrilled to find that this really was the place for them to be, while the tropical temperatures literally made the fair hotter than ever. Buyers who were unable to visit the fair in person found its entire unique range online at GROEN-Direkt's webshop.

Christmas trees

The Autumn Fair is also the time when GROEN-Direkt traditionally starts its exclusive presale of Christmas trees with an extensive Trees & Tools sample presentation, a broad range of more than 120 different species/size combinations, and plenty of attention for all the accessories needed for the sale of Christmas trees.

The Christmas tree buyers did not allow themselves to be deterred by the tropical temperatures to enjoy the benefits of special presale discounts.

Enchanting opening

The PLANTARIUM|GROEN-Direkt fair started on Wednesday 24 August with a festive show by the Dutch magician Victor Mids. He literally combined the Autumn Fair and the PLANTARIUM|GROEN-Direkt fair into the most comprehensive garden plant fair in Europe, transforming Boskoop into an enchanting green total experience for two days.

And the winner is

The central plaza of the PLANTARIUM|GROEN-Direkt fair featured a presentation of the plants and concepts submitted for evaluation in the 'Best KVBC (Royal Boskoop Horticultural Society) Novelty' and 'Best Market Introduction' categories, and the plants nominated for the 'Visitors' Favourite'. The winners in the first two categories were the Wild & Inheems (Wild & Native) perennials concept of Griffioen Wassenaar from Boskoop, and the Phlox 'Olympus' (Paniculata Group) submitted by Rijnbeek and Son Perennials BV from Boskoop in cooperation with Compass Plants BV from Hillegom. The visitors were invited to vote for their favourite plant via a green ball system. Clematis 'Z018179' (PROUD MARY) produced by J. van Zoest BV from Boskoop proved to be the undisputed favourite.
