New Soft Fruit and Substrate Specialist joins HollandDoor
Jan Willem van de Pol

In response to the increasing global demand for food security, food safety, and sustainability, HollandDoor is expanding its team with another highly experienced specialist. Following the recent addition of René Braakman, we are proud to welcome Jan Willem van de Pol, an expert in soft fruit cultivation and substrate management.

Jan Willem brings a lifetime of experience in guiding soft fruit growers, particularly in the rapidly evolving cultivation of strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries. As a senior consultant, he specializes in the transition from open-field cultivation to soilless production systems. His expertise includes advising on substrate selection, optimizing water management, and addressing the specific needs of different crops and growing conditions.

In addition to conventional substrates, Jan Willem has extensive experience with organic alternatives. As the industry moves toward more sustainable solutions, the shift to organic substrates is gaining momentum, driven by the need to replace traditional peat with renewable raw materials.

Having lived and worked for more than 20 years in Italy, Jan Willem has supported numerous growers across Southern Europe. With the global soft fruit market experiencing strong growth, his in-depth knowledge of substrates and cultivation techniques makes him a valuable team member to HollandDoor and its international clients.

Organizations, from educational institutions to growers, suppliers or government agencies, seeking updated knowledge or expertise, in a specific agricultural sector or domain are welcome to contact us. We offer a wide range of services to support innovation and business growth.
