In early February 2025, Dalgety commenced supplying domestically cultivated medical cannabis to pharmacies, marking the first instance of UK-grown medical cannabis being distributed directly to patients. The indoor operation at Dalgety together with its pharmaceutical processing capability symbolizes modern industrial progress beyond regulatory boundaries and elitist prejudices.

A Sustainable Way Towards Success

Established in 2019, Dolgaty’s Midland facility is an advanced indoor farming operation, spanning 30,000 square feet and employing climate controlled conditions to ensure optimal lighting, hydration, and temperature. This controlled indoor environment allows Dalgety to precisely manage all aspects of plant growth, leading to high-quality, pharmaceutical-grade cannabis. Dalgety’s climate controlled indoor growing environment is designed to ensure consistent cannabinoid levels across all its medical cannabis products. By maintaining strict environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, and CO₂ enrichment), the facility optimizes plant health and pharmaceutical-grade quality. Each plant is genetically identical, allowing for precise control over potency and therapeutic effects, ensuring patients receive a standardized product with every prescription.

Additionally, the farm utilizes automated nutrient delivery systems, which precisely regulate the feeding cycles of the plants, eliminating human error and maximizing growth efficiency. Brady Green, originally from Canada, serves as the Head Grower at Dalgety, the UK's first fully licensed medical cannabis farm. With over a decade of experience in horticulture and cannabis cultivation, Brady has been at the forefront of Canada's established cannabis market, contributing to the development of new strains and the enhancement of growing methods. Brady joined Dalgety in 2023, bringing his expertise to the company's state-of-the-art facility in the Midlands. He oversees a crop cycle that spans approximately five months, including stages such as propagation, vegetative growth, flowering, drying, and curing. Under his guidance, the facility produces around 400 kilograms of dried cannabis flowers monthly, equating to approximately 4,000 patient prescriptions.

Emphasizing the importance of quality over speed, Brady advocates for a "low and slow" approach during the drying and curing stages to preserve and enhance the terpene and cannabinoid profiles of the cannabis plants. He believes that true quality is achieved through time, precision, and an unwavering commitment to excellence.

Brady is also committed to breaking the stigma surrounding medical cannabis. He has stated, "It's important to discuss medical cannabis openly and break the stigma of this plant. It's the opposite of evil and dangerous and hopefully it can provide a lot of assistance for people.”

Dalgety operates from a highly secured facility, ensuring that every aspect of its cultivation and distribution process remains protected from external threats. Located on a confidential 13-acre site in the Midlands, the farm’s exact whereabouts are undisclosed to prevent unauthorized access and safeguard its valuable medical cannabis supply. Security is a top priority, with 24/7 surveillance provided by a network of over 150 CCTV cameras and a dedicated team of former military personnel. In addition, the facility features bulletproof doors, high-security fencing, and advanced monitoring systems, ensuring that only authorized personnel can enter restricted areas. These stringent security measures reflect the regulatory challenges surrounding cannabis cultivation in the UK and reinforce Dalgety’s commitment to operating within the highest compliance and safety standards.
