Added on 28 August 2022
Messe Dortmund will be hosting the very first VertiFarm - the international trade show for innovative, sustainable cultivation and breeding methods of the future - between 27 and 29 September 2022. Alongside the show's conceptual partner, the Association for Vertical Farming (AVF), DLG has now also been recruited as partner for this year's supporting programme on the transformation of agriculture.
Dortmund, 26 August 2022 - Visitors to VertiFarm, the new international trade show for 'next level farming and new food systems', can look forward to a comprehensive overview of sustainable agriculture products and production systems available on the market from international exhibitors in Germany, the UK, China, the US, Canada, Sweden and the Netherlands - to name but some - between 27 and 29 September 2022. With its technical expertise in innovative agricultural production systems, the DLG is to be a partner in this year's specialist programme.
"Feeding the world's population and supplying people sustainably in urban areas are some of the most urgent challenges of the future, and we want to shed light on these together with a host of innovative suppliers, proficient partners and proven industry experts at the new VertiFarm trade show offering a platform for the emergence of new solutions. With the DLG's expertise in agriculture and the food industry, we have found a capable partner who understands the segment and the needs of those in the market being addressed by the new VertiFarm," said Sabine Loos, Managing Director of Westfalenhallen Unternehmensgruppe which owns and operates the Messe Dortmund venue. "As a platform for innovative and sustainable cultivation and breeding methods, VertiFarm will present and discuss products, technologies and solutions on stage and in the exhibition hall with great innovative energy," she continued.
"With its test work, technical activities and trade shows and events, the DLG is a platform, a network and a source of inspiration and drive for innovation and sustainability in the agricultural and food industry. We see interesting potential in new production systems such as vertical farming, and this year we're delighted to be assisting knowledge transfer within the 'next-level farming and new food systems' themed areas," said Tobias Eichberg, General Manager, Fairs and Exhibitions (DLG).
Under consideration currently are various knowledge transfer formats and panels addressing the focus issues - transformation of the agricultural and food industry - and building a bridge between agriculture and new food systems.

28 September is the focus of the Retail Day in collaboration with the trade association of North Rhine Westphalia & Westphalia-Münsterland and the retail climate protection offensive as support for retailers and resellers with a shared brunch, a guided tour to selected trade show suppliers plus panels and expert talks on the main topics of urban development, energy efficiency, sustainability, regionality, ROI and economic viability as well as best practice.
The last day of the show will see students, universities, start-ups and new projects, among others, have the opportunity to present themselves on stage in the context of Vertical Farming and New Food Systems. Afterwards, interesting business discussions can be held with potential investors with the opportunity to make contacts with further education and research bodies, focusing on dialogue and networking between colleagues or on a cross-industry basis. Further details and a complete programme overview will be added and updated promptly and regularly on the website.
