Greenhouse experts from the Netherlands return to India

What does the future of food look like for India? Dutch pioneers in sustainable greenhouse horticulture believe that cutting-edge technology can be the key to an efficient chain, supplying high-quality fruits and vegetables for both domestic and foreign consumption. From November 13 to 22, the Dutch greenhouse experts from HortiRoad2India will be back in India to boost collaboration in sustainable food systems using innovative solutions. The delegation will be present at Krishi Bharat Conference in Lucknow, and will visit Chennai and Hyderabad to meet with potential partners and stakeholders to enhance India’s future food system.

The Netherlands is renowned for their excellence in greenhouse farming. Their solutions offer maximum resource efficiency and create highly profitable and sustainable food systems. “We believe we can make great impact on India’s food system together”, says Desh Ramnath, Director India at Dutch Greenhouse Delta, and coordinator of HortiRoad2India. This public-private consortium of leading horticulture companies focuses on creating long-term Indo-Dutch partnerships with a mission to explore and support India’s evolving food ecosystem. HortiRoad2India is led by Dutch Greenhouse Delta, Innovation Quarter and Rotterdam partners, and supported by the government of the Netherlands.

HortiRoad2India will visit India once again from November 13 to 22. They are hosting targeted events and meetings with potential partners and stakeholders in Lucknow, Chennai and Hyderabad. Throughout the visit, Dutch companies will work closely with new and existing partners to refine business cases, laying the groundwork for impactful projects and long-term collaborations. The Dutchmen are ready to connect with investors, forward-thinking growers, retailers, and food service businesses eager to invest in the future of food. The delegation is eager to learn from the value chain, co-create with the value chain, and co-develop new solutions for abundant sustainable clean food production.

In addition, HortiRoad2India will host dedicated business case sessions in each city, providing Dutch and Indian partners with the opportunity to explore collaborative greenhouse projects. During these 1.5-hour sessions, participants will work together to complete a structured format that assesses the feasibility of high-potential business cases, focusing on challenges, budget, needs, and ambitions. An initial budget will be drafted on-site, offering participants a clear view of the project's viability from the outset.
