Glass House Farms' massive cannabis expansion

Last month, Greenhouse Grower reported that California greenhouse cannabis producer Glass House Farms had received California state cannabis licenses, as well as a cannabis business license from Ventura County, for the Phase I retrofit of the company's 5.5 million square foot greenhouse located in Southern California. The facility consists of six, high-tech, environmentally controlled agricultural greenhouses, and the Phase I retrofit involves the optimization of approximately 1.7 million square feet for high-quality cannabis cultivation.

Glass House President and Chief Cannabis Officer Graham Farrar says cannabis plants should be grown in a greenhouse, using sunlight as a free natural source.

"It's a great way for us to match indoor quality in a sustainable way, and bring efficiency at a larger scale," Farrar says. "Ultimately, it's better for our customers, our business, and our planet."
