How Dutch knowledge and technology helps China

China is facing strong urbanization of its population and growing demand for fresh and safe food by that urban population. To meet this demand, the Chinese government wants to modernize its agricultural sector. The current productivity per hectare is low, water use is high, and suitable agricultural land is scarce and saline. In addition to technological innovation, the Chinese labor force must be trained to make this change in the agricultural sector.
Sustainable high-tech horticultural projects in China
This offers a great opportunity for the Dutch horticulture industry, as a forerunner in the world, to export totally integrated high-tech solutions and knowledge to China. The Netherlands offers a totally integrated ecosystem and is a reliable and experienced partner in developing sustainable high-tech horticultural projects in China. Many Dutch horticultural companies have already found their way to China. Several Dutch companies have been working together with governments and knowledge institutions in the public-private partnership program since early 2021: PIB 'NL Protected Agri Alliance China'. This PIB, coordinated by Dutch Greenhouse Delta, positions the Dutch greenhouse horticulture sector jointly in China as a cooperation partner for the development and implementation of integrated and sustainable high-tech greenhouse horticulture agro parks near metropolitan areas.
