ThinkPlants announces new shrub program

ThinkPlants® is excited to announce its expansion into the North American shrub market with the launch of a new shrub liner program. This initiative signifies a strategic move to enhance the ThinkPlants portfolio, which has primarily focused on perennial genetics since its inception in 2018.

"Expanding into the shrub category has been a consideration for some time. We believe the timing is perfect for this new program, and we couldn't be more excited,” says Joey Wiseman, Director of ThinkPlants.

In collaboration with Monrovia Nursery, ThinkPlants aims to promote young plant sales for shrubs across North America.

"We are proud of this new program," says Jon Russell, Shrub Program Manager. "We will work with some of Monrovia's exclusive shrub genetics as well as curate a portfolio of high-volume open varieties that dominate today’s market."

Monrovia has long been a leader in introducing innovative shrub genetics, gaining a wealth of unique plant offerings over the years.

"This partnership with ThinkPlants allows us to expand our young plants sales further,” says Jonathan Pedersen, President and CEO of Monrovia. “We are committed to producing the best liners available, similar to our approach with finished plants, while establishing a high-quality supply chain and introducing unique genetics."

Creekside Greenhouses, a valued participant in the ThinkPlants network since 2021, will also play a significant role in this shrub initiative, focusing on the introduction and sales of pre-finished Hydrangeas.

"Creekside has grown alongside us, and this new shrub focus will enhance its opportunity in providing strong patio and landscape Hydrangea varieties," Wiseman says.

In alignment with its perennial program, this initiative makes all shrubs available without branding restrictions, allowing various programs to use leading market genetics and reach more consumers.

"The ThinkPlants team is dedicated to gaining exposure and driving sales for all participants,” Wiseman says. “Our collective expertise in plant breeding, horticulture, technical support, supply chain management, production, sales, and marketing creates a robust partnership. It makes perfect sense to broaden our approach to include shrubs."

The team invites you to visit ThinkPlants at MANTS, booth #2680, to explore shrub liner options and discuss the details of this exciting new program. You will also find a fantastic display showcasing perennial genetics from ThinkPlants’ exceptional partners.
