The new greenhouse adds to BrightFarms' network of local, sustainable hydroponic greenhouse farms serving local markets including Charlotte, N.C.; Winston-Salem, N.C; Greenville, S.C.; Spartanburg, S.C.; and Atlanta, Ga.

Existing farms already in operation are in Virginia, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Illinois.

The event will conclude with a virtual tour hosted by founder Paul Lightfoot and a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the farm's first harvest.

The facility will grow more than 2 million pounds of salad annually for supermarkets in the Carolinas and throughout the Southeast.

The event is from 11 to noon Eastern Daylight Time, May 7.
