Ams Osram dominates horticulture lighting
Added on 02 January 2024
ams OSRAM has introduced a new 640 nm Red LED, named OSLON Optimal Red, as an addition to its OSLON Optimal family of horticultural lighting LEDs. This innovation aims to improve the growth of common plant types cultivated under artificial lighting by providing a broader spectral coverage in the red portion. The OSLON Optimal Red LED addresses fungus, bacteria, and bleaching issues, offering high efficacy and robust performance for greenhouse and indoor farming applications. Notably, the LED’s double red peak, combined with horti white, has increased dried biomass levels. This product is expected to contribute to energy efficiency and cost reduction in various horticultural lighting applications!
Key Features:
- Broadened spectral coverage with a new 640 nm Red LED.
- Addresses issues of fungus, bacteria, and bleaching.
- High wall plug efficiency of 66.3% and photon flux of 2.58 µmol/s.
- Suitable for greenhouse toplighting, interlighting, and vertical farming.
Application: Horticultural lighting and general lighting applications such as architainment and signal lighting.
Quote: Thomas Grebner, Marketing Manager at ams OSRAM: “The discovery of new recipes that include a double red peak of Hyper Red and Red is helping growers produce more biomass and maintain superior plant health.”
