Jungle Talks to Uganda

Jungle Talks to Uganda

"Jungle Talks to the World" is visiting Africa again. Previous shows put the spotlight on South Africa, Kenya and Ethiopia, now we're going to Uganda. The country is a well-known producer of cuttings, but is it interesting enough to fill a 2 hour radio show? The answer is definitely YES!

20 May and 27 May 2021 (16.00 - 17.00 hrs)

Floriculture is a much larger industry in countries like Kenya and Ethiopia than in Uganda of course. The acreage used for floricultural production in Uganda is only 10% of that in Kenya. Ethiopia gained an important position in a relatively short period of time. Uganda remains the odd man out, but that could change soon. The country has unexpected, but very relevant advantages over her bigger floricultural colleagues.

Agricultural Counsellor Frank Buizer, together with Esther Nekambi (Director UFEA), Olav Boenders (CEO Wagagai) and John van Vredendaal (GM Royal Van Zanten Uganda) discuss all pros and cons of the floricultural sector in Uganda. In addition, surprising themes will be covered like cooperation in the field of IPM, but also the process towards the 'Living wage'.

Uganda is a fascinating country that is relatively safe and stable. Nowadays the investment climate is rather interesting and for more than only chrysanthemum cuttings.

On May 20 at 16.00 hrs the fours guests to the show will introduce themselves and discuss the current situation in floriculture. One week later they will talk about four relevant themes that are important for the future of floriculture in this African country.

If you're interested to know more about Uganda, do not miss Jungle Talks to Uganda.
