Quebec tomato producers sold at a loss for weeks

Dominique Fortier, a greenhouse grower in Saint-Damase, Montérégie, says she's getting less than $1 a pound for some varieties, when she normally aims for $1.50. It's not unusual in April for prices to dip as imports start to come in from Mexico and other places, but the length of this year's drop in prices is most worrying as Quebec producers have no choice but to sell below the cost of production or lose their crop. | READ MORE (in French)
