Selecta One acquires Helleborus breeding from Bock Bio Science

STUTTGART, Germany: German plant breeder and propagator Selecta One is pleased to announce it has purchased the complete Helleborus assortiment and breeding research from tissue culture specialist Bock Bio Science GmbH.

The breeding programme includes a valuable genetic pool of Helleborus niger, orientalis and interspecific. The product group is a welcome addition to the current Selecta one portfolio and opens new opportunities in other market segments, especially in high-quality perennials.Dr. Andrea Dohm, Managing Director Research and Development (R&D) from Selecta One says: "We are very pleased to take over and continue the Helleborus breeding program from Bock Bio Science. In addition to several very competitive Helleborus niger varieties, the breeding program offers great opportunities for innovative approaches to breeding novelties for which Selecta one is known. The timing is perfect, we are currently seeing a growing market for Helleborus, both for the traditional Helleborus niger types and for new interspecific types. It is also a perfect addition to our current range, as many of our customers already have Helleborus in their portfolio".Friederike von Rundstedt, co-owner at Bock Bio Science and responsible for Research and Development: "We are very pleased that with Selecta one we have found our partner of choice for marketing our high-performance range of Helleborus clones and seedlings and look forward to further close cooperation. The intensive continuation of our long standing, good relationship with the internationally recognized experts in ornamental plant breeding will ensure that our Helleborus varieties are increasingly used by growers worldwide. In the future we want to concentrate on the order-based in-vitro propagation of young plants, as well as focus on our autonomous plant propagation technology RoBo®Cut."In addition to the breeding programme, Selecta one will also take over and process the orders for the coming season. The in-vitro production remains in the Bock Bio Science laboratory, which ensures high product quality. In the meantime, both Bock Bio Science and Selecta one will work closely together to ensure a smooth transition and deliver excellent quality material. If you are interested or have any questions, the Selecta one team is available at any time.
