BIOPLANET joins CBC Group to enhance biocontrol

″We are delighted to welcome BIOPLANET, a historic and renowned Italian company producing beneficial insects and mites based in Cesena, to the CBC family," said Vittorio Veronelli, CEO of CBC.

"Last month, the operations were finalized to incorporate all BIOPLANET activities into the CBC group through its Italian branch. The company will continue to operate as a producer of beneficial insects and mites under the name, CBC BIOPLANET Srl, and will serve the international market through its own branches already present in France, Greece and Spain, in addition to the existing distribution network and CBC branches around the world, while in the national market, it will integrate into the BIOGARD® network," Veronelli pointed out.

With almost 40 years of history, BIOPLANET is the first Italian producer of beneficial insects and mites for biological pest control in agriculture.

Founded in 1985 as Biolab, a spin-off of Bologna University led by the late Prof. Giorgio Celli, it then developed into BIOPLANET at the end of the last century, through the initiative of some employees.

The growing demand for bioprotection tools in agriculture with the need to increase production investments and market outlets, together with the long-term collaboration between BIOPLANET and CBC, have led to this evolution that will give the company a wider international scope.

Together with BIOPLANET, CBC BIOGARD® will fulfill its strategy in the bioprotection sector for agriculture combining a UNIQUE range of synergistic and compatible products. A full range of plant protection products with low impact to the environment, operators and consumers have been developed on scientific basis and produced at the highest quality and reliability standards.

BIOGARD®, a Division of CBC (Europe) Srl, was created in June 2012 by merging CBC (Europe) and Intrachem Bio Italia, two ″pioneer″ companies in the development and marketing of biological controls since the 1980s. BIOGARD® is recognised as a pioneer in this market with a long history and good experience on biocontrol R&D and promotion. For this reason, BIOGARD® is considered a reference for the EU Biocontrol market. Over the past twenty years, BIOGARD® developed and registered successfully, in the EU market, several bioinsecticides, biofungicides and bionematicides. Its catalogue includes proprietary products, such as Naturalis (Beauveria bassiana ATCC74040), AQ 10 (Ampelomyces quisqualis I10) and Lepinox Plus/Rapax AS (B.t. kurstaki EG2348) for which BIOGARD® has Annex I authorizations and product registrations in several EU countries, which were carried out by our R&D and Regulatory teams.
