To engage children with nature and raise awareness about the importance of plants, Flower Council Holland is partnering up with the GreenBee Foundation this winter. Together, they are holding plant education classes in primary schools and turning more than 30 classrooms in different provinces into green oases.

Plants in the classroom: building a green future

GreenBee aims to make both the indoor spaces of schools and hearts of young generations a lot greener. They have developed an educational programme that teaches children about the beauty of indoor plants and how much fun (and important) it is to care for them. They encourage children to view nature differently and explain how they benefit from plants using an educational, playful approach that combines theory and practice.

By collaborating with the GreenBee Foundation, 30 classrooms get to experience firsthand what it’s like to have plants in the classroom. During the plant classes, students not only learn how to care for the plants, but also discover the benefits and joys of being surrounded by greenery.

Building a solid foundation

One of the most inspiring things the GreenBee Foundation consistently observes during the classes is how children connect with their plants. They give the plants names and personalities and shower them with lots of love and attention. This playful interaction fosters a sense of responsibility—not only towards the plants, but also toward other children.

By teaching children how to care for plants, they're not only making classrooms more vibrant and healthier, but also instilling valuable lessons that will benefit them later in life. Together, we’re taking steps toward a greener and more sustainable future.
