Fall workshop series for California growers 

PORTLAND, Ore. - The series will discuss ways growers can be more energy efficient in their cultivation facility for improved savings.

This Thursday September 14th,  Resource Innovation Institute, a not-for-profit, public-private partnership advancing climate resilience, kicks off their fall workshop series with Southern California Edison with a free webinar discussing strategies for energy reduction in greenhouse and indoor farms. Register here today!

New Strategies for Energy Reduction in Greenhouses and Indoor Farms

The groups invite you to join the first of four webinar series as they welcome Caleb Hayhoe from ICF to discuss regional incentive programs, Luis Trujillo from Hoogendoorn to discuss the use of controls for smart energy efficiency, Mikhail Sagal from TSRgrow as he discusses lighting integration and Rob Hanifin who will discuss integration of technology.

Topics covered during the webinar will include:

  • New techniques in lighting

  • Selecting & implementing energy curtains

  • Using CO2 enrichment to balance energy

  • Integrating controls for smart energy efficiency

Water Circularity in CEA Facilities: Reduce, Remediate, Reuse

At the end of September the groups will tackle an important topic surrounding water use efficiency. Panelists will leverage the newly published Water Circularity Best Practices Guide for Controlled Environment Agriculture Operations as reference in the webinar. 

Topics covered during the webinar will include: 

  • Water conservation practices any CEA facility can apply today

  • Smart irrigation programming

  • Reducing water used in climate control and processing

  • Water disinfection and purification equipment

  • Prioritizing and designing water circularity into your operation

The team will welcome panelists Caleb Hayhoe from ICF to discuss incentives, Carlos Salazar from BearAg to discuss water integration techniques and Jeffery Martens from Newterra to bring his expertise on water treatment.
